SAN FRANCISCO — xAI's Grok 4.3 can now generate production-ready Microsoft Office files — Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets — natively through the Grok interface, marking a significant expansion of the AI assistant's enterprise capabilities. The feature, part of xAI's Grok Skills system, brings document creation directly into the AI workflow without requiring users to switch between applications or manually format outputs.

Elon Musk first teased Office integration in April 2026 during a live xAI demo session, showing Grok turning structured prompts into styled corporate documents in seconds. The full rollout to all users came in May 2026, bringing the capability beyond the $300-per-month SuperGrok tier.

What Grok Can Now Build

The document generation suite covers the core Microsoft Office stack with meaningful depth in each format.

For Word documents, Grok generates fully formatted files that preserve heading hierarchies, tables, bullet lists, and consistent styling throughout. Users can generate polished proposals, contracts, legal memos, and resumes from a natural-language description. Grok can also ingest an existing Word file and restructure, expand, or polish its contents.

For PowerPoint presentations, Grok builds complete slide decks with strong visual hierarchy, speaker notes, and layout choices appropriate to the use case — pitch decks, quarterly reviews, academic presentations, and client workshops each receive formatting tailored to their context. In demonstrations, Grok converted a dense neuroscience paper into a clean nine-slide academic deck in under a minute.

For Excel, Grok can generate spreadsheets with working formulas, conditional formatting, PivotTables, and embedded charts from a plain-language description of the desired output. Data cleaning, column restructuring, and summary generation are also supported.

Enterprise Context

The document generation capability sits alongside a broader Grok enterprise push in 2026. Grok now connects natively to SharePoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Google Workspace, Notion, GitHub, and Linear through its Connectors system — and users can bring their own MCP server for custom workflows. The combination of file generation and live data access means Grok can pull information from a connected workspace, synthesize it, and export the result as a finished document in a single session.

This positions xAI directly against Microsoft 365 Copilot, Google Workspace's Duet AI, and other enterprise AI assistants that have made Office productivity a primary battleground.

PDF and Workflow Automation

Beyond the three Office formats, Grok also generates and manipulates PDFs, including form filling, merging, and extraction. The Grok Skills Batch API allows developers to queue large volumes of document generation requests and retrieve results asynchronously, a key capability for enterprise teams running high-throughput document workflows.

For businesses that have standardized on Microsoft Office, Grok's native document output removes friction from AI-assisted workflows. Instead of prompting an AI, copying text, and reformatting in Word, users get a finished, shareable file — styled, structured, and ready to send.
