Einride Speeds Up Its Record 500-Truck Tesla Semi Order

AUSTIN, Texas — Tesla's biggest Semi customer is moving faster than planned. Einride, the Swedish freight-technology company behind Tesla's largest Semi order to date, now expects to take delivery of all 500 electric trucks before the end of 2027 — well ahead of its original two-year timeline.

The 500-unit order, worth roughly $125 million at current pricing, is the largest Tesla has landed for its Class 8 electric truck. Einride plans to deploy the fleet across California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia, and CEO Roozbeh Charli says the company expects to have 75 Tesla Semis running before the end of this year.

From Promise to Daily Operations

"This deployment is yet another proof point that we can execute at the scale our customers demand," Charli said, calling the partnership "a testament to the strength of that partnership, and how quickly this technology is maturing from promise to daily operations."

Einride's customer roster includes Amazon, and the firm is folding the Semis into a broader logistics push built around its Saga AI platform, which helps fleet operators plan routes and forecast budgets. As Tesla Semi deliveries firm up, Charli said, Einride decided to make a larger commitment and put the trucks to work quickly. The acceleration reflects the same commercial momentum lifting Tesla across the board, from a dominant share of the U.S. EV market to a rapidly expanding energy business.

A Record That Keeps Growing

Einride's deal tops the previous record held by WattEV, which ordered 370 Semis in a roughly $100 million agreement earlier this year. The pattern is clear: as the Semi finally reaches high-volume production, fleet operators are lining up with ever-larger commitments.

The Tesla Semi has been on a long road since its 2017 unveiling, with early timelines pushed back while Tesla prioritized the Model 3 and Model Y and worked through battery supply constraints. After years of real-world testing with partners such as PepsiCo and Frito-Lay, Tesla opened its dedicated high-volume Semi factory in Sparks, Nevada, earlier this year. At full speed, the plant is designed to build up to 50,000 trucks annually.

Launch Day Approaches

The timing could hardly be better. Tesla plans to officially launch the Semi on Sept. 24, roughly five months after production began ramping, and the Nevada factory is preparing for a celebration to mark the occasion.
