LAS VEGAS — The Boring Company has broken ground on its first underground Loop system in Florida, marking the company's entry into a new state and another milestone in its push to carry the Las Vegas model across the country.
The Florida project will link key destinations through a network of tunnels in which Tesla vehicles whisk passengers point-to-point at highway speeds, skipping surface traffic entirely. Company officials said early digging is underway and that the system is designed to scale as demand grows.
Taking the Vegas Blueprint National
The groundbreaking is the clearest sign yet that The Boring Company intends to replicate the success of the Las Vegas Loop well beyond Nevada. That ambition got a major boost last week when the company raised 3 billion dollars to expand the Vegas Loop nationwide, giving it the capital to pursue several cities at once.
Florida, with its sprawling metro areas, heavy tourism and chronic congestion, is a natural fit. A Loop can be built faster and at a fraction of the cost of traditional transit, and it adds capacity underground without disrupting the streets above.
