SAN FRANCISCO — SpaceXAI on Tuesday launched Grok Bot, a new class of always-on AI agents the company describes as "teammates you can give real work to," pushing Elon Musk's AI arm from a chat assistant into software that can operate apps and finish multi-step jobs on its own.
Agents With Their Own Computer
Grok Bot's core idea is that each bot gets its own computer in the cloud and signs into the tools a person already uses — inboxes, CRMs, ticketing systems and websites — then works across them the way a human would. Bots complete jobs end to end and only return when they need approval, according to SpaceXAI's announcement. Users message a bot like a colleague, and it remembers past conversations, learns how a person likes work done, and gets sharper with repeated use.
Inside SpaceXAI, the company says the tool already runs real work: a sales bot updating a CRM with call-transcript notes and drafting follow-ups, an operations bot seating new hires and processing invoices in Gmail, and an engineering bot reproducing a bug in the product UI, filing the ticket, and handing the fix to a debugging bot. Teams can even run several bots in parallel, with a "chief of staff" bot coordinating specialists for inbox management, expenses, recruiting and more.
Built With Cursor, Rolling Out on Apple First
Grok Bot arrives as SpaceXAI and coding-tools maker Cursor move to combine into a single company, and the first release is a native iPhone and Mac app, with Windows and Linux desktop versions also available and Android listed as coming soon. The beta is open today to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers, while enterprise users can join a waitlist. The launch continues the rapid cadence Musk has set this year, following the company's accelerated Grok 4.6 model timeline.
A New Front in the AI Race
Grok Bot pushes SpaceXAI squarely into the agentic-AI contest against OpenAI and Anthropic, betting that customers want less prompt-engineering and more delegation. The pitch leans on a simple promise: the difference between 90% done and 100% done, with bots designed to land work in the actual tool where a human would put it. It also rides the same compute backbone powering the company's consumer features, including the recent 1080p upgrade to Grok Imagine.
Early users quoted by the company describe handing off entire workflows and trusting bots to run them unattended after showing them a task once. If that experience scales the way SpaceXAI hopes, Grok Bot marks a shift from AI that answers questions to AI that simply gets the work done — and a new way for businesses to staff the routine digital labor that fills the workday. For now it is an early beta, but it is one of the most ambitious swings yet from Musk's fast-moving AI operation.
