AUSTIN, Texas — The wait to see Tesla's newest stretched crossover in person is over. Launch Series units of the six-seat Model Y L have started landing on showroom floors across the United States, giving order holders and curious shoppers a first hands-on look weeks before customer deliveries begin.
From Giga Texas Lots to Store Floors
As production accelerates at Gigafactory Texas, display cars are fanning out to local stores. Drone footage recently showed the outbound lot at Giga Texas packed with Launch Series Model Y Ls, many in the new Cosmic Silver finish with a Zen Grey interior, alongside delivery-ready units in Diamond Black and Stealth Grey. Those same premium configurations are now appearing in stores from Naperville, Illinois, to Tysons, Virginia.
The rollout builds on the momentum from Tesla's record quarter, when strong demand for the Model Y helped drive its best-ever second quarter. While the initial showroom cars are for static display and not yet available for demo drives, visitors can climb in, sit across all three rows, and test the cabin firsthand.
What Buyers Are Seeing
The Model Y L stretches 196 inches — seven inches longer than the standard Model Y — to open up a true 2-2-2, six-seat layout. Tesla rates it at 325 miles of EPA range on 19-inch wheels, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, an 83 kWh battery, 89 cubic feet of cargo space, and an 18-speaker audio system.
