AUSTIN, Texas — Tesla has reopened reservations for its next-generation Roadster, reviving one of the most anticipated products in the company's history just ahead of an October 1 unveiling near Waco, Texas. The reservation page went live this week, giving fans and long-time supporters a path to lock in an order before the production car takes the stage.
A $50,000 ticket to the future
The reservation asks for a $5,000 fully refundable deposit on a credit card, followed by a $45,000 wire transfer due within 10 days, for a total of $50,000 to secure a build slot. Tesla has said the October 1 event will finally reveal pricing, detailed specifications, and production targets — the concrete answers enthusiasts have waited years to hear.
The Roadster first stunned onlookers in 2017 with promises of a 620-mile range, a sub-1.9-second 0-60 mph sprint, and a 250-plus mph top speed. Since then, Elon Musk has repeatedly teased that the production car will push past even those numbers. As Electrek reported, the reserve page swapped in a fresh teaser image showing the car under launch lighting with a "Go for launch" countdown to October 1.
The SpaceX package
The most tantalizing element is the long-promised "SpaceX package," a set of cold-gas thrusters Musk says could deliver a sub-one-second 0-60 time and, more dramatically, allow the car to briefly leave the ground. The styling has evolved too, adopting Tesla's angular "Cyber" design language and a full-width light bar like the one on Tesla's newest Cybercab robotaxis now rolling out across Texas.
